Topic-icon Custom Login Buttons in SCLogin 4.1.2

10 years 2 weeks ago #46851 by alexio
Hi Alex...
I just upgraded SCLogin to 4.1.2, and in the Module settings > Social Button Settings tab, when I select 'Custom' in the Social Login Buttons, the fields for the custom images link urls are no longer there ....

In the Image Style, it just shows 2 choices: the small square version and the standard size rectangular version.

Has the Custom Images option been removed? ... or am I forgetting something?

Could you take a look, as even the standard buttons are now looking pretty small on the front end. (I had taller / wider custom buttons before the upgrade 307 x 50 px ;-)
The module is at the top right, and has the facebook and linkedin buttons.

Thanks in advance ...

The ability for custom images is still available, but it's changed. To use the feature now, please upload any custom images to the following directories:
/media/sourcecoast/images/provider/<social_network>/
You can upload png, gif or jpg images. Once you add an image for a provider, it will show in the Custom Image Buttons options so that you can select which one you want to use. Also, in the JFBConnect -> Configuration area, you can set the default button to use for each social network so that they are used everywhere in your site and you don't have to set it for each instance of the SCLogin module.

There's also now a way to set the image using our Easy Tag, like:
{JFBCLogin image=my-custom-image.png providers=facebook,twitter}
That will load the my-custom-image.png file from each of the provider directories for each provider that you're showing, in the case above, just for Facebook and Twitter.

It's definitely a change in how we did things before, but the new way is more flexible as we add more providers and also easier to configure.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Oh, as for the sizing, it's because of the area you have the buttons in. You have them set to vertical and it's a very narrow column that's being created. Try changing the social buttons to horizontal or increasing the area of the module position you're putting the social buttons into.

Perfect. And perfect!
You're amazing! What a fantastic feature to implement. Thanks for.... well..... thanks for being YOU.

Suggestion: maybe in the next version, supply these instructions in the Module settings > Social Button Settings tab - might save you a lot of work here on the forum ;-))))

Thanks, Alex....

Thanks for the suggestion. We realize there's a bit more documentation we could provide in the extension to help guide users a bit better. It's a never ending cycle of new features, documentation, support -> new features, documentation, support -> etc

I'm glad that helped get you going though. If you have any other questions or suggestions for feedback, please let me know.

Thanks,
Alex
