Thanks !

In JFBConnect > Configuration > General area, can you turn on the 'Enable Debugging Mode' setting? This should hopefully provide more information and an error code on why the authentication is failing. Let me know what messages are displayed please.

Hi Mel,

Thanks for the reply, not sure why I did not receive an alert to your reply. I'll enable debugging and have a look.

Just to mention. That with my settings as is, I did manage to successfully authenticate maybe 40% of the time with Google. I rebuilt the site from scratch, and now I cannot authenticate via Google at all, get the issue all the time.

While you are turning on debugging mode and let us know if there are any errors that you see, could you also take a screenshot of the settings in your Google application for the "Authorized redirect URI" settings and post them to this thread? A lot of times, this setting is the culprit for a lot of the connection issues.

You see this is a public forum, and I have just published my Google API credentials, not cool, I will need to delete the google app after this and start over, any way you can handle this better ?

I deleted the pic. You can private message anything that should be confidential by using the PM envelope under my avatar. If you want to send me credentials to your backend, I can take a look to see if there is anything obvious that is causing the issue. I tried to login via Google on your front-end and I didn't even see the "We were unable to retrieve your Google account information" message that you were seeing.

Look,

The only thing I am trying to achieve here is to create a system for Estate Communities to manage their systems. I try to use to use the best Joomla components to get to my goal.

I do work with a venture capitalist, and if I can show a success here, we will take it nation wide in South Africa, then wider. Everyone involved will benefit, StackIdeas, you guys and all the other providers.

I have another job, but this is my passion, and I know that something special can be created.

Help me do that to help you.

The joomla / web functionality is only part of the solution. We are integrating the on-site camera's, alerting systems for security, we are using Cloud based apps for the accounting / payroll, google based GIS for detailed mapping.

But in the end a complete system.

Thanks for the credentials. I logged into your site and your configuration in JFBConnect and the Joomla backend looks fine. I think the problem lies in how your Google application is set up. I created a test application of my own for your site and replaced the Google App ID and Secret Key in the JFBConnect backend temporarily with my test app's values. With this app, I was able to successfully be brought to the login / registration page and create a user with my Google credentials with no issues.

I put the following values in my redirect URIs in the application
http://tierboskloof.ironcloud.co.za/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&task=authenticate.callback&provider=google
https://tierboskloof.ironcloud.co.za/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&task=authenticate.callback&provider=google

While the values in your screenshot look ok, please double-check that you don't have any spaces in the URI and try re-typing it in without copy/paste. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest deleting your application and create a new one using our Google Application Setup Guide at www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/soci...le-application-setup - as I said with a brand new app that I created, Google authentication on your site worked just fine.

[Edited to add] By the way, I left my user on the system so that you could see it was created properly in the Joomla Users Manager area and there is a corresponding correct mapping in the JFBConnect > User Map area for the Google network.
