Localhost Site for testing connection and functionality to facebook

Can I configure a localhost to connect to facebook for testing. I'm new to this and want to learn how to link content from my site to facebook pages. Do I need to make an internet legal site with valid IP and DNS or can I use a local setup on http://127.0.0.1.

The autotune utility throws the following error Facebook API Error: (#100) deauth_callback_url should represent a valid URL. The URL against De-Authorization Callback is http://127.0.0.1/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&task=deauthorizeUser

I have tried connecting using localhost but the De-Authorization Callback URL still reads 127.0.0.1. I tried clearing browser cache and Joomla site cache but still the same.

Hi Alex

I have changed browser from chrome to ie and the autotune routine made a fresh connection to facebook and populated the settings with localhost instead on 127.0.0.1. It was as if under the original browser despite the clearing of cache it did not try to start the process from the start.

Up shot is now it has completed and I shall proceed with my testing.
